  • In Memoriam

I have created a new forum in which we may post about dear and departed ripperologists, our late and lamented friends and acquaintances, and of course, former members who are all no longer with us.

    For Celesta

Thanks for this, Tim. I am too upset at the moment to pay a full tribute to Linda (Celesta). But what I would like to say is, she was one of the sweetest people anyone could ever know. There was a kind of gentle magic to her. Here am I, sitting at a computer talking about a lady whom I never met, never spoke to on the phone, and never even saw a photo of until today, and yet this awful tragedy has knocked me for six. People sometimes say that internet communication is a poor substitute for face-to-face communication because of the potential for misunderstanding. Well, there was never any misunderstanding with Linda. What she gave, was pure gold.

I remember her thanking me for the healing beams. I, and everyone who knew her, want to thank her for the beams that she was sending out. It's a slightly uncanny sort of feeling, being beamed on in this way, but there you go.

You've made many fine post, Robert, and this is one of the best. I've tried to find something to publicly say since yesterday, and you've expressed just how I feel.

Linda made sure to inform folks about mutual friends who may be going through difficulties and shared her concerns. In doing so she established personal bonds between others who otherwise may have been content to only communicate on topics relevant to the boards instead of really becoming friends. Its not easy for many of us, but it was natural for her.

I never thought I could get this emotional about anyone whom I've only communicated with through a keyboard... But I have.
      Can't say anymore right now.
      Best Wishes,
      Cris Malone

        Hi all

Some of the long-time Ripper board and chat room frequenters might remember Avala (Stanoje). I heard a couple of months ago from Carole Melis from Vermont that Avala had passed away in Belgrade. Av had apparently separated from his wife and left California to return to Belgrade. Funnily enough, Av denied to me that he was from the former Yugoslavia, but the name "Stanoje" sounded to me as if it was from that area of the world... and his chosen screen name of "Avala" happens to be a mountain in Serbia -- Av told me at one time that it was the name of a mountain. There are a couple of blogs that Av maintained and if I can find the addresses I will post them.

          Note:

The forum formerly known as Auld Lang Syne has been renamed In Memoriam.

Please visit to pay respects and share anecdotes, etc. about those whom we have all known or at least heard about in Ripperology and have now departed.

I have added Avala; if you can think of any others, please advise.

Also note: We DO respect the dead in here, even if we may have disagreed in life, so please refrain from making any snide or uncomplimentary posts. They will not survive in here, and neither will violators of this policy.

            A lovely though, Tim.

I'd like to suggest a thread for Adrian Phyper, if I may

Forum, my boy, forum. Mere threads are for people named Brown.

I always thought the name was Phypers, but that is a good suggestion.

I have found info on the site on everyone but Adrian Phyper, aka Viper, and have copied or moved it to the In Memoriam forum.

Does anyone have any info on Adrian that we can use?

                    Hi Tim

The Viper was before my time, so all I know of him is what has been posted on Casebook. But there must be people on the Forums who knew him.

                      Jules passed away too?
Ann was wondering why we had not heard anything from him.

Sorry to hear about Linda too.

                      In thoughts of you...

One of my first posts on JTRforums was about Adrian.

I'll see if I can find it.
