Thank you, Howard. You and Jane have worked so very well together. You've unified us all.

I watched the video of the funeral and it confirmed what I always sensed about Robert. He really drew strength from the love of his family. And he shared his love and knowledge with them so freely. It is gratifying to see a man of such good character have a successful life.

        Update on January 11, 2021

The Forums have elected to do the following in tribute to Robert Linford over this past weekend :

        1. John Savage suggested using this avatar for the individual who personifies the example Robert set and which will be that person's avatar on December 8th, 2021, one calendar year from the passing of our dear and never to be forgotten comrade in research. Robert loved his tea and John and I feel it would be appropriate.

In addition, a hefty donation will be presented to Little Havens, a hospice for children in Essex, where Robert hailed from.

From what I hear, Little Havens was charity that was close to Robert's heart.

          A very nice choice.

Follow up email from Jane Linford :

                Hi How,

I've been meaning to email you actually. I saw the other day the teacup avatar on the forum (great idea) and saw that you were going to donate to Little Havens.

Thank you so much. It's such an important thing, caring and supporting children, who sadly often do not make a recovery, along with their families. It's heart breaking, and the fact that people are there doing that job is wonderful. Robert would be so pleased with the donation you guys have very kindly made.

It takes a special kind of caregiver to be a hospice worker. Often such a person develops a sincere relationship with their patients, and sadly, the worker has to succumb to the reality of what must occur. I hope this nice donation becomes an aid to the children and to the people who are there by their side.

I just noticed that Robert’s last activity on here was at 11.02 pm on the anniversary of Mary Jane Kelly’s death.
                    Regards

Robert is one of those people I greatly regret not having met in the flesh. He was, as others have posted, unfailingly courteous and good-humoured in what he posted. He is a sad loss and I'll forever miss reading through a thread and not seeing one of his measured contributions,. RIP Robert.
                      Best Wishes, Colin.

Thanks for this Howard. I am glad I watched the service and heard the tributes to our late friend.

We should note that the video will be available to view for one week more at that link, although it can be ordered from the funeral director or crematorium: "This Watch Again recording will be available to view until the end of Monday 25th January 2021. If you'd like to order a copy to keep on DVD or USB, please speak to the funeral director or crematorium - they have to order this with us so the family can authorise it."

A Remembrance in honor of Robert appears now in the current issue of the Ripperologist Magazine, which was distributed today. It was put together nicely. Thank you to all who were involved in getting it published.
