  • Point To Ponder : Robbery & Murder ?

In your opinion, is there evidence of the Whitechapel Murderer either robbing victims before or after their murders...or at all ?

Could he have given the victim the impression of merely wanting to rob them, taking something of value before murdering them ....or do you think it more likely that if he had robbed them ( rings, coins), then it was done as an after thought ?

Or, maybe he didn't rob them at all.

    Your call.

Chapman and Eddowes were definitely robbed. I believe the evidence points strongly to the robbing taking Place after their deaths.

Whether the others were is unknown.

None of the C-5 had any coins in their possession. Maybe he killed before price was negotiated and money proffered but Mary had been working all evening and at least one report said there was no money in her room.

I don't think robbery was a motive but there is indication he took trophies and he rifled through Kate's many pockets, spilling the contents more than would have happened if he had just slashed loose the pockets from her waist.
