But, like it or not, science (fallible) progresses by such means -- a series of what may be erroneous assumptions. Absolutely right, Scotty. Science involves experimenting and a good scientist will never claim that the time for experimentation is over.

I had also heard a radio interview with Jari in which, although he wasn't as bullish as his colleague, he didn't exactly rock the boat. Ah, I can now see why taking the piss out of absent authors and scientists on a message board might feel like some consolation for having had the piss - along with £18 - taken in the first place. Caveat emptor, anyone?

Sorry, Paul. That's why I prefaced it with "that I can think of" as I posted that from work, a place sorely lacking in shelves full of Jack the Ripper books to pull for reference.

Seriously, I did forget what the name of you n' John Bennett's publisher was.
It's okay, Howard. It was Jonathan's comment [The only decent Ripper book that I can think of that was brought out by a University Press...] that cut to the quick.

I know exactly how it works...at least the scientific stuff. Take every poster here, add up their published works (even "essays") and I'll still have more publications in peer reviewed journals.

Look at the title of the thread...how is anything I said post-conference going to influence their behaviour at said conference?
Irrelevant. Yuor comment was referred to in order to establish what sort of comments were being flung around. I never said it was made post or pre conference.

Because you've been caught out as either a total dimwit or a lying troll...my "charlatans" comment was made after the conference...as a result of what happened there...
Irrelevant. Or do you deny that it serves as a good example of the sort of stuff that was/is being said about these two on internet fora?

Not sure how I quoted you out of context seeing as you called them charlatans

Im not commenting on the WS1888 debacle.
Then why the feck are you on this thread at all? Again, look at the title...

Why would I apologise for using your example to illustrate the type of comments to be found on websites about the doctor? Its a comment, you made it, its about
the doctor and its on a website. Or do you deny any of the above?

    End of...I'm outta here
