I'm in the process of completing my passport application and deciding whether the bank account will look healthy enough to merit a trip in April. AC/DC are doing more shows around Eastern USA at the end of March / early April so I'd love to see them again if I got the chance too. See how the next month or so progresses, fingers crossed!

    Cheers,
    Adam.

That's amazing, AW....I swear to God I was wearing my AC/DC tee shirt yesterday. It must be destiny for you to get over here.

Someone wanted to know the name of the hall and address....
          Here they are :

The conference venue will be at the Maryland Historical Society in the France Hall Auditorium in Baltimore's historic Mount Vernon District.

The address of the MHS is 201 West Monument Street

. We will have talks in France Hall 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Saturday, April 9 and 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm Sunday, April 10, with a bus tour of downtown Baltimore on Sunday morning for those who don't have sore heads from Saturday night festivities.

The Hotel that I will be staying at is the Mount Vernon Baltimore.
The address is 612 Cathedral Street.

          Proximity of the two :

Questions for the (hopefully) still interested readers....

            Who has registered ?

            Have you found lodgings ?

Any difficulties in using PayPal ?

Has the line of communication between Chris and yourself been what it should be ?

            Do you have questions ?

The reason I ask is that the interest level regarding this Convention at this point in time seems to be on the level of watching paint dry.

            Anyone ?

I ought to have said that the interest level from the membership isn't very high at the moment....not Chris or Janis.
              My mistake.

                Hi Howard

Actually there's quite a lot happening. I am finalizing work on a full website for the conference and have been promoting RipperCon on Facebook while fielding questions about the event from various people. We have been nailing down the program for both days, including panels and moderators. There will be two panels: a Panel on Ripper Fiction on Friday afternoon featuring David Sterritt, Stephen Hunter, and Lenne Miller (Mr. Hunter's researcher) to be moderated by Janis, and a Panel on Ripper Suspects on Saturday morning including Martin Fido, Robert Anderson, and Michael Hawley, moderator to be announced.

Janis thinks we can draw in Sherlock Holmes devotees for RipperCon, so we have added a talk on The Ripper, Sherlock Holmes, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle where Janis and I will talk on the topic. Also I am planning for Saturday lunchtime a trivia session which will feature book prizes, including a signed copy of Neil Bell's excellent Capturing Jack the Ripper: In the Boots of a Bobby in Victorian London, which Neil is kindly sending over especially for RipperCon. Many thanks in advance, Neil!

                Best regards

                Chris

I believe the schedule has changed to begin around 1pm Friday and wrap up Saturday evening, with the bus tour the only Sunday event. I stand to be corrected, but do to this I'm now planning to arrive Thursday evening.

                    Hi Jonathan

Yes you are correct. In order to tighten up on expenses, and have a continuous two days of talks, we opted to start at the Maryland Historical Society at 1:00 pm on Friday and run until 6:00 pm, then resume 9:00 am on Saturday and run until 5:00 pm.

                    Best regards

                    Chris

Heads up all you newspaper-heads :

I'm interested in setting up a discussion group for all folks who trawl the newspapers and have a genuine interest in utilizing the contemporary press to Ripperology's advantage......either at a local taproom or my room or wherever.

We'll call it the Press Corps.
