    Hello all

Its been a While since my last post. Anyway a quick update. As some of you may be aware we launched the all new Ripper / True Crime club H Division in November last year at the official Jack the Ripper conference in London , which proved to be the largest attended Ripperology event of the year. Thanks to all for the continued support.

Better still , my favourite part , the all new club Magazine - The Dagger True Crime Quarterly , was also launched to some fantstic feedback. We even managed to squeeze out a fun xmas edition just in time for the festive period. The magazine is packed with some quirky stories and articles, all crime related with a regular feature called THE RIPPER FILES.

The RIPPER FILES as the name suggests will focus on the Whitechapel murders and will appear in every issue. Issue 1 featured Michael Hawley's wonderful " A second road to Scotland Yard" A MUST READ.

The next issue will be launched in MARCH 2017.

Membership is broken down into two sections to suit everyones budget. A hard copy or a PDF version of the Dagger is available depending which membership option you go for.

I want to thank all those who helped make it possible. We really couldnt have done it without the support of the field.

We will be setting out the next 12 months on our club website soon but so far we have :

March 2017 - The Big Yorkshire Crime Weekend conference 3rd - 5th March

June 2017 - Club meet up and crime walk ( Yet to be announced )

September 22nd - 24th - The official Jack the Ripper Crime Conference LIVERPOOL

mid December - Xmas meet up somewhere in the UK ( yet to be announced )

IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO LOOK AT WHAT WE OFFER PLEASE CHECK OUT THE WEBSITE AT WWW.CRIMECLUBUK.COM

CURRENT DISCUSSION ON THE H DIVISION FACEBOOK PAGE IS :

Maddeline Mccanns parrnts have lost their appeal to Portugal’s highest court over ex-police chief Goncalo Amaral’s book claiming they covered up their daughter’s death.

Judges decided that Goncalo Amaral’s “right to freedom of expression” was worthy of greater protection under Portuguese law than the “right to honour” of the McCanns.

THE BLACK PANTHER : The Trials and Abductions of Donald Neilson

Gordon Lowe was born and bred in Bath, but after qualifying as a solicitor taught law for ten years in London to include a year in America. He then returned to the West Country to set up his own law practice from which he has now retired to write full time.

This coming March Gordon will present a chilling talk on his latest book - The Black Panther - which was published in November 2016.

Donald Neilson, aka The Black Panther was a Bradford serial killer who terrorised communities in the early 1970's.

An armed robber, kidnapper and murderer. He murdered 3 people during robberies of sub-post offices between 1971 and 1974, but it was infamous kidnap and murder of Lesley Whittle in 1975 and the fraught police investigation that followed which captured the public imagination and led to one of the largest manhunts in Britain.

7.30pm - FRENCH BALL ROOM - Midland Hotel

THE YORKSHIRE RIPPER : The Secret Murders

Author Tim Tate revisits the most infamous series of murders in Yorkshire history.

In 1981, Peter Sutcliffe, the 'Yorkshire Ripper', was convicted of thirteen murders and seven attempted murders. All his proven victims were women: most were prostitutes.Astonishingly, however, this is not the whole truth. There is a still-secret story of how Sutcliffe's terrible reign of terror claimed at least twenty-two more lives and left five other victims with terrible injuries. These crimes - attacks on men as well as women - took place all over England, not just in his known killing fields of Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Police and prosecution authorities have long known that Sutcliffe's reign of terror was far longer and far more widespread than the public has been led to believe. But the evidence has been locked away in the files and archives, ensuring that these murders and attempted murders remain unsolved today.

Afterwards - The late public bar will be open for delegates.

                    SUNDAY 5TH MARCH 2017 – ( NOW SOLD OUT )

11am - Crime talk - FORSTER SUITE - Midland Hotel

THE PIERREPOINTS – A FAMILY OF EXECUTIONERS

Author / Historian Neil R Storey tells us the story of the family that dominated the role of public executioner in Britain during the 20th century. Between them they hanged some of the most notorious murderers of their day including Seddon the poisoner, Gordon Cummins, Nazi War Criminals, Haigh the ‘Acid Bath Murderer,’ Derek Bentley and Ruth Ellis.

Neil Storey also had a very brief appearance in the film ‘Pierrepoint’ starring Timothy Spall and can say he has been sent through the gallows traps by Albert Pierrepoint and lived to tell the tale.

1.15pm - Meet in lobby of Midland - Walk over to Police museum. ( 5 minutes distance )

1.30pm - A visit to the Bradford Police Museum and
                    court house.

                    3pm - Finish

NEWS of our June meet up will be announced in the March edition of the Dagger true crime quarterly.

                                H DIVISION - GOING FORWARD -

Since H divison Launched in November 2016 we have been overwhelmed by the response from not only the field of ripperology but the wider field of true crime and today we welcomed our 250th member. Our original goal of 1000 paid up members by the end of 2017 actually looks like becoming reality.

(unless the post office staff and pensioner shoot me for taking up the entire queue posting the Dagger journal to everyone ).

Our original plan was to host 4 events and meet ups per year across the UK, this now seems likely to increase to 6 events. 2 Main weekend events and 4 smaller budget friendly set ups.

We will also be launching an Official H divison Crime Club Conference to be held every year in London in the spiritual home of the East End and this may also include seprate smaller meetups in the evening every two months also taking place in London. These may be organised by local history societies and independant enthusiasts but will be supported under the H divison umbrella and website.

                                WANTED -

The Dagger crime journal is looking for keen writers and bloggers in the workd of Ripperology / True Crime to contribute towards this ever growing project.

We are also looking for enthusiastic amateur film / documentary makers for an exciting new Venture. ( to be revealled )
