The first two series were okay. I've got some books on the real Peaky Blinders and seen the odd documentary. The real history is better.

Sarah was apparently thinking of doing a piece on ‘Black Jack’ Stevens. He was one of the last men ‘Ching Hook’ fought before he (Hook) disappeared. And we know what happened to Stevens - he slipped and fell on Billy Maher’s butter knife a few months after Hook went awol. ;-)

I’ve not really watched much of it to be honest, just a few episodes here and there. The one episode I did seek out was the one in which Brilliant Chang makes an appearance. I may be wrong, but I get the impression that beyond the name, there’s little that matches the activities of the real PBs.

Funnily enough, the real Peaky Blinders operated during the period we are interested in, the 1880s to the 1910s and not as featured in the series.

This kind of thing is entertaining, but it’s not remotely ‘authentic’ is it? The accents are wrong, the verbose language and the attitudes are wrong - IMH&A*O.

            *Ancient.

Chang: Do you have a match, Mr Shelby?

There’s only one authentic response to that:

              ‘Yeah: your face, my arse.’
