  • The politics of academia

With the discussion of Hallie Rubenhold's book and the controversy surrounding it, I thought that this little hoax exposing how political bias guides what is considered academic research is an eye opener.

The Sokal hoax covered this 20 years ago https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sokal_affair

One problem not mentioned is that our society and thus also academia is based on a certain amount of trust. So when a professor submits a paper, it’s not just a paper, the general expectation is that he’s following research protocol.

Anyway, Rubenhold’s book’s controversy has, I believe, only played out in the press, not in academia.
