    Sims was a really great writer. I will have to dredge up the old posts of the 'Mustard and Cress' columns we had here.

    Concerning the general content of the piece here, historians have interesting observations about religions. In ancient religions people beseeched the gods with bargaining and sacrifices. Judaism was the first to present a relationship with one G-d. Christianity was the first religion to require members to hold certain beliefs in order to join. A quick overview of religion throughout the millennia.

    (And then there is Graham Hancock who proposes that some beliefs are rooted in humankind remembering hellaciously big and nasty comets striking the earth about 12,000 years ago. The worldwide flood, etc.)
