Thanks, Kate. And for us Americans, it's free at amazon.com as well. I just downloaded it.

    Yours truly,

Yes, thanks for that. An excellent work.....kind of the updated, post-Ripper version of Henry Mayhew's work in the mid-1800's.

          Cheers,
          Adam.

            Thanks for the heads-up.

Actually, anything that is public domain (published before ~1937 - I could be wrong with the date) is downloadable for free. I've been reading old horror authors like Machen, Chambers, MR James and Dunsany.

I saw some FBi files about Jack London but didn't get time to read them properly. I haven't the opportunity now but wish I had because I am nosy . Does anyone know what they were about?

                  Debs:

                  Coincidentally, I read them today.

I'll put up the link shortly.

The Feds cited London ( who was deceased by the time of the dossier ) for his socialist-leaning, The Iron Heel.

London became, lets just say, dissatisfied with socialism towards the end of his life.

                    Here it is, Debs :

"Fought with his pen against the present order".........

                    https://archive.org/details/JackLondon

The file apparently was added to into the 1950's. London died in 1916.
Guess Hoover wasn't taking any chances.

Thanks, How. What year was the dossier compiled?

                        Debs:

It has secret squirrel shit all the way into 1954....let me get the date down as to its beginnings.

                        Yours
                        J.Bond

Update from deep inside the Eagleville Kremlin.....

Comrade Arif....it seems to have been a decades long endeavor....beginning either in the late 1930's and going into 1954. Some pages, not the heavily redacted ones which are worthless to Boris and Natasha, refer to the year 1959.

They used to say 'better dead than red'...but what if the red is dead and has been for 43 years ?
