  • The best Zodiac Suspect You've Never Heard Of

    Hey guys,

I don't know if any of you have been paying any attention to the recent amazing news that has surfaced over at Tom Voigt's site (ZodiacKiller.com). Recently (I believe around April) Tom unveiled a new suspect. Richard Gaikowski.

Surprisingly the information that has surfaced about Gaikowski is nothing short of amazing. In fact, it's simply incredible. The basics about Gaikowski are the following:

--Richard went by the nickname "Gyke", which can be clearly seen in Zodiac's Three-Part Cipher. View HERE:

    http://www.zodiackiller.com/ExaminerCipher.html

--Gyke instructed staffers at his San Francisco newspaper to write stories about the Zodiac, etc, and told them specifically what to write. He allegedly lived in the newspaper's basement.

--Gyke was born in Watertown, SD, which is about 90 miles from Lake Herman, SD.

--Gyke's mugshot allegedly stemmed from an altercation with Darlene Ferrin whom is one of Zodiac's victims. View the Mugshot HERE:

    http://zodiackiller.21.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=1994

--Prior to moving to San Francisco, Gyke worked for the newspaper in Martinez, which is very close to Lake Herman Road. (Jim Phillips, the man Darlene married not long after her alleged altercation with Gyke, briefly worked at the newspaper in nearby Fairfield.)

--Prior to his stint at the Martinez newspaper, Gyke worked in Albany, NY at the Knickerbocker News. Interestingly, Darlene's address book features an entry for a Eunice Nolan of Albany NY, and her address currently is the Hoffman Car Wash. Not sure what it was in the 1960s yet.

--Gaikowski Died on April 30th, 2004, due to Cancer. He was cremated.

Now heres the real interesting tidbits abour this suspect. Nancy Slover, the switchboard operator who spoke to Zodiac on July 4th 1969 claims that Gaikowski's voice is EXACTLY like that of Zodiac's. And she's passed over plenty of other suspects including ALA, Kane, etc.

You can listen to audio of Gaikowski's voice as well as nancy slover's audio response here:

And also another interesting tidbit here is that Gaikowski was the editor for "Good Times" a public newspaper/magazine. Some of the writings by Gaikowski even went as far as seeming anarchist in some forms and he frequently referred to the police as "Pigs". There is so much information on this that I can't elaborate on here (As it would take forever) but you can view it here:

And finally an "ad" was released that appeared in the good times that was handwritten, and all I will say is, the comparison to the handwriting to that of Zodiac's made the hair on the back on my neck stand up. view it here:

    Hi Justin,

What about DNA and prints? There must be some he left somewhere and even if not DNA from relatives would clinch it. These were the deal breakers with Allen who looked like the guy for sure as well.

      Stan,

From what Tom said last time I knew they were looking into it. Much of the other coincidences with Gaikowski as being Z are startling. A picture is being painted that Gaikowski was an anarchist who was also a protestor visiting Ireland before the faraday/jensen murders as well. And some motivations perhaps are occurences such as the peoples park tragedy, etc. Gaikowski served in vietnam I believe as well.

Just based on the links, it's all certainly worth investigating. It nice to see fresh ideas at work. I know a few people interested in the case lost interest upon Arthur Lee Allan's passing.

Interesting Dustin, I would imagine that the mystery of Zodiac's identity would have grown stronger with the urge to find out whom he was. In this case its a definate clincher for suspcets. Either you've got a handwriting match (In this case opinions can differ. Lets remember from when that handwriting analysis said John Mark Karr wrote the ransom note from the Jon Benet murders. He's prolly still feeling that black eye) or a fingerprint match which there is one from the latent bloody print from Stine's cab, a partial palm, and one from Zodiac's letters. No match = no Zodiac. Period. Its still funny how some people, like that idiot Dennis Kaufman's claims that his stepdad, Jack Tarrance was Zodiac when he was ruled out by Fingerprint analysis.

Some just won't let their pet theory go like those who say maybe Allen had someone else lick the stamps and envelopes. Yeah, right! Regarding the print; oh that was someone who came along later. SUUUUURE!

              JDombrowski89......

Regarding Dennis Kaufman? Hey! We know the drill when it comes to the media. Famous, infamous, it doesn't matter. So long as the person gets the attention. So expect him to milk that claim till the cows come home. He's no different than anyone else. He wants his "15 minutes". However. That doesn't mean we have to buy it.

              Stan......

I couldn't tell you how many people have pushed that theory on me, just to get it to work. I admit. I was a mark for Allen, too. But that's just...um...Well. Let's just say I wouldn't, "throw down the $2, to win that prize" so-to-speak!

The FBI files on Zodiac are now available for study, they are only 1,370 pages long, so I'm quite sure that instead of idly speculating with your macroscope up your asp you'll read the fricking files and get back to us with some useful frikking information.
I close with my frikking best wishes that Hoover walks this planet again and casts his gigantic shadow over my toilet which has no lid.

Well more recent developments with this suspect make him VERY interesting. I believe he's more interesting than ALA or anyone else for that matter.

Here's what ((over at Zodiackiller.com)) they have found out about RJG.

*During the late 1960s/early 1970s, Gaikowski was the editor of an anti-police, counterculture newspaper in San Francisco called Good Times.

*As early as January 1969, the Good Times newspaper advocated murdering white suburban youth.

*The Good Times "switchboard" was located only yards from the residence of Zodiac victim Paul Stine on Fell St. in San Francisco.

*Nancy Slover, the police dispatcher who spoke with the Zodiac in July 1969, has identified Gaikowski's voice.

*At the very time the Zodiac wrote two letters to the editor of the Vallejo Times-Herald, Gaikowski's best friend Bob worked as an editor at that very newspaper.

*Gaikowski's nickname, "GYKE," can clearly be seen in Zodiac's three-part cipher.

*Eventual Zodiac victim Darlene Ferrin of Vallejo, Calif. got married on Jan. 1, 1966 and moved to Albany, NY. Gaikowski quickly followed, moving across country from Martinez, Calif. (near Vallejo). Ferrin's husband worked at the Albany Times-Union newspaper; Gaikowski worked at the rival Albany Knickerbocker News.

*On March 13, 1971 the Zodiac sent a letter to the Los Angeles Times. Later that year, Gaikowski was involuntarily committed to the Napa State Hospital after "going berzerk." He was then diagnosed with a mental illness and began treatment at Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco. The Zodiac didn't write again for almost three years.

                    Regards,
                    Justin

                      Nice work,J.D.

I don't know if you are aware of another cadre of scumbags that hailed out of California around the early '70's when all that peace and love b.s. was what one immediately thought of California. Oh,how I hate hippies.

Look up the Zebra Murders. They didn't advocate anything...they performed murders. A book by Clark Howard, entitled, "Zebra" is an eye opener.

Dozens of Whites were systematically being killed by negroes for the sole purpose of...killing Whites.

Maybe this guy Gaikowski...if it pans out that he was the Zodiac... was conducting his own version of Zebra...all the vics were White. You never know.

I'd never heard of these guys. I wonder why they got so little publicity compared to the Mansons etc etc.

Anyhow, I ordered the book and started a thread.

Hoffman's Car Wash is a local chain in and around Albany, NY. If you tell me what street you're looking for I can probably tell you what was there in 1960.

The Times Union and Knickerbocker News were the 2 local daily papers, the TU was the morning paper and the Knick the evening one. The Knick folded in the mid to late 80's but the TU still exists.

What If You Solved the Zodiac Killer Mystery and No One Believed You?

Tom Voigt thinks he knows who was behind the crime of the century.

Tom Voight runs the zodiackiller.com website. I don't know if declaring a solution hampered the site. It's under construction now. I believe him although it took me a while.

Along with all the points JD mentions above, Zodiac survivor, Michael Mageau, reveals that Darlene Ferrin says the guy in the car pulling up to them was named Richard. That was in the 2007 extras for the DVD release of the Fincher movie. I thought it might be the police officer Richard Hoffman but there's no way he made the zodiac call to police that night as he was in the ambulance going to the hospital.
