    Harcourt must have got inspiration from this newspaper story...if he wasn't the one suggesting the theory.

    This is the plot of 'The vampire' in the book Devil's Derlict's by F.C.Vernon Harcourt.
    A medical student turns wrong because of his involvement with a music hall artiste and prostitute. He ends up in prison and while there he is given the task of doing post mortems on dead prisoners in the mortuary. On being released from prison he meets 'Florrie Featherstone' again, the prostitute who got him in to trouble and she becomes his first murder and mutilation victim, followed by others.
