Any idea why the letter/number on Deeming's pants? His cell number?

Witnesses included Prison Chaplain and Wardens.

It's worth noting that the Old Melbourne Gaol is still partially in existence and is now a museum. There's some artefacts on Deeming as well. I visited there about a decade ago now but I do remember it being very interesting, especially having stood in what was once Deeming's cell.

      Cheers,

I used to go to the old Melbourne Gaol as a kid on school excursions. We used to scare ourselves witless with ghost stories and haunted cells. Fun times!
