Having studied the basics of Chapman's life, I was wondering if it was established that he was present in Whitechapel throughout 1890? We know he was in the White Hart during the latter part of 1889 and early 1890, after marrying Baderski, but do we know his whereabouts throughout 1890?

Hi Adam,
I really recommend Helena's book. It's an excellent read.
According to her book on Chapman/Klosowski, he was proprietor at the cellar barbershop under the White Hart pub from some point in 1890 until mid-1891. Lucy gave birth to a son Wladyslaw on 6th September 1890 at the White Hart. Helen believes the Klosowskis rented a room in the pub as there was no living accommodation in the cellar. However Wladyslaw died in March 1891. At that time his parents were shoehorned into No 2 Tewkesbury Buildings, sharing no 2 with six other people.

The problem is, his life wasn't documented anywhere on a day-by-day basis. In those days, nobody's was, and we only know where people were because of birth, marriage and death certificates, the census, and directories.
We are actually lucky for the period around 1889-1891 as Chapman's address was documented on all the above! But it still only gives us snapshots of where he was on a particular day.
As others have said, it does appear that he was renting somewhere (possibly a room above the White Hart), and working beneath the White Hart.
A brand new edition of my book is just published this week! So you can find out everything yourself (see my other message.)
Is there a particular reason why you are interested in 1890 and not 1888?

Taking on board various strands of evidence, it appears that K started 1889 in Cable Street, moving to Commercial Road, where he stayed for an indeterminate period. His stint at the White Hart could have started in Spring 1890 at the earliest, possibly a little later. This appears to run contra to Wolff Levisohn's testimony, but it's full of holes anyway.Kind regards, Sam Flynn
