Forums Facebook members Bruce Collie and Amanda Lloyd found two more examples today....

The first, found by Mr. Collie, is supposedly of Bucks Row.

The second, located by Amanda, is said to be Millers Court

Street alleged to be Dorset Street, which it isn't.

13 Miller's court, Dorset street, Spitafields. Where the last Jack the Ripper murder took place.

          Hi Howard

Interesting thread. The alleged photo of Buck's Row (now Durward Street) had me going because the tall building in the background is reminiscent of the Board School and the entranceway in the nearer foreground could be the entranceway of the garage (earlier the entrance to the stable yard) where Polly Nichols' body was found.

But a check with photographs of the street on Casebook shows that the Board School in Durward Street looks different to the tall building in the alleged photo.

          Cheers

          Chris

This is Thrawl Street. From I think The People of the Abyss.

I have seen the above picture before represented to be Miller's Court, and I believe it actually could be a photograph of the court before its demolition, because it appears consistent with the following period view of the court. Remember we are talking about the part of the court north of 13 Miller's Court, and the passageway outside the murder room, on entering from Dorset Street, was wider than the length of the court pictured.

                Hi Rob,

Yes, taken from "The People of the Abyss", 1903. The archway formed the main entrance to the yard of Charlotte De Rothschild Dwellings, Thrawl Street. Built by the 4% Industrial Dwellings Company, the 4% going to the investors.

                Regards,

                Sean.

Not a chance in hell of that photo being Millers Court. Disproved years ago.

Thanks Sean. I had to think to get my bearings as there is/was another arch on the Flower and Dean Street side.

                      Regards

This is Betts Street School between Cable Street and the Highway. Long gone.

If we can put the actual names to the places then hopefully it will put a stop to them being used wrongly.
