On a slightly different tack, just as this tremendous advertisement for the H Division Crime Club hit the streets, the name of the Club was changed and the contact website given in the book was erased from the internet. Does anyone know why? Was any effort made to inform Pen and Sword so they could change the website address before they went to press?

I'm not sure whether or not the H Division Crime Club is a Richard Cobb creation...
All I do know is that earlier this year I ordered, (and paid for), a DVD through his tour group website...my bank statement showed the money had been taken.
After several weeks I had received nothing...I emailed the site, and failing a response, phoned the number on the website - this was eventually answered by an individual with an extremely offhand manner, who insisted I should contact the office...I persisted phoning and emailing daily...the phone was switched permanently to voicemail...eventually the mailbox was full...and still no response...
Fortunately I'd paid via Paypal who opened an investigation, and repaid me very promptly, because they were also unable to contact the vendor.
I too have bought this Pen and Sword publication...I say foolishly, because although I deeply respect some of the other authors involved, (and do not doubt their contributions will be worth reading when it hits the top of my reading list), accusations of plagiarism are already tainting the damned thing...
I say no more...

In case Rick has a response and in order to avoid the thread from turning into a shit toss, as many conversations from the past have turned into....I am requesting ( turned off his posting ability for the time being) that any reply be sent to me for review. I'm sure Rick can come up with a civil reply and keep his remarks confined to the thread's topic.
Thank you.
....and I want it from Rick and not anyone else here on the site.

Rick's reply :
Just looking at some of the comments on the JTR Forums
I can only comment on my own personal chapter and apologize for the 1% of the intro appearing to be the same style of intro as a previous book.
I have a mountain of quotes, blogs and essays on my back office system which I use for updates, FB sites and promotions with work etc.
It’s a good intro and I wondered how it actually got into my chapter from my back office system.
Then I realised I had at one time an author getting paid for writing blogs for me which is probably why those actual 100 words are in that intro.
But to fair, I agree with what Ed said. 100 words of intro blurb in a 6000 word chapter is hardly something to write home about.
My advice is judge the chapters individually based on their information and the authors research. I think we can all agree there is some pretty decent people involved in this work.
Now as for Keith Stride, I’m almost tempted to reveal her name but to do so would serve no public good. The book launch is next week I’m sure something will be said then.
P.S.
I’m not Keith Stride by the way....... or the second gunman on the grassy knoll...... or the man who shot liberty valence etc etc.
My reply:
Do you want me to copy what you've just written to me and have me post it on the site ?
Rick said that would be fine.

But am I to assume Rick would say she’s lying?

And what was it doing in this 'back office' in the first place, given that it was copyrighted material belonging to Paul Begg and John Bennett?
For it to get there, it needs to have been Cut and Pasted from an electronic book version of CSI Whitechapel, or else typed out by hand. Either way, that's not something that just happened without the involvement of the 'author' of this chapter.
