I foolishly clicked on the link and realised that was another few seconds of my life I will never get back. What a waste of space that man is. I'm beginning to think he may actually believe what he writes after all. I used to assume he was making it up just for jolly, either because he has nothing better to do or he thinks he is winding people up.

Damn, that's another few seconds of my life I will never get back. I must be losing it.

You then respond with a post that to me reads as disingenuous- we both know I used the word so why the sardonic reply?

I think this little exchange helps to highlight a reason why your relationship with David Orsam seems so acrimonious:
It’s important to be precise. Most of what David Orsam posts about in his Orsam says is people not responding to what he writes but to something they think he wrote, that is, they paraphrase something which then changes its meaning.

So perhaps you meant “whose shortcomings were being exposed in the update to which you provided a link?” and my reply would be “Primarily Mike Hawley’s”
      Hi Kattrup,

      In post 220 you wrote:

I thought it would cause joy to those who appreciate reading David Orsam's well-argued and rational explanations of things ripper-related, and dismay to those whose shortcomings are being exposed

      In post 223 I asked:

So whose shortcomings were being exposed in what you posted?

What you had posted was a link to Orsam’s blog. Are you really telling me that you didn’t realise that that was what I was referring to? The word ‘shortcomings’ was a clue - you had said they had been exposed in the blog. I was asking ‘whose shortcomings?’ I obviously meant those exposed in the blog.

Since the blog was a tsunami of ‘childish word vomit’ (to use his Lordship’s delightful phrase) directed at several individuals, I was interested to know which attacks in particular you were referring to that were causing so much joy to you and dismay to others.

Miraculously, you seem to have made your way through my impenetrable prose, worked out what I actually meant and provided a crystal clear answer, ‘Primarily Mike Hawley.

Many thanks for that. That’s just the question I must have been clumsily trying to ask: who was the ‘primary’ target of his Lordship’s bile.

      • This is slightly off-topic, but does anyone know exactly why His Lordship was booted off Casebook? I think it happened shortly after he had mercilessly (tediously) trolled Tom Wescott about the Millous issue. Did that have anything to do with it?

        It clearly still rankles.

It’s worth doing occasionally, Caz just to remind yourself of what a charmer he is. Describing your amusing one-liner about Trevor as ‘childish word vomit’ is a classic example of his style.

‘Muppets!’ ‘Clowns!’ ‘Clanger’ etc he rails. And then berates me for calling him a twerp.

He also thinks it was stupid of me to have called HR a ‘pampered twat’ after she and her Twitter crony had aimed sexual slurs at Forums members. Stupid it may well have been, even if it was in response to something worse, but I did apologise for having said it. Orsam and Rubenhold, two p’s* in a pod, presumably still stand by their personal insults.

I look forward to the day when his Lordship joins the Forums and immerses himself in our team spirit.

I used my immense influence on Ally Ryder to orchestrate his removal in order to protect my very close friends Caroline Morris and Keith Skinner.

David wrote a 3,000 word essay about it.

Is it still possible to find David’s posts on Casebook? I’ve become so unhinged, I feel the urge to count how many times he repeated the same question to Tom. Less than 60, I would imagine, but more than the two which constitute my ‘one man war’ against Waterstones’ Covid policies.

Was he Lord O over there, or David O, or David B or just Dave?

                • Talking (bragging) of his posting of an example Anne Barratt’s handwriting, Lord O claims:

So no-one could possibly have put that particular issue to bed 'years ago'. The data wasn't available years ago. Now that it is available, we can see that there are uncanny similarities between Anne's handwriting and the Diary author's handwriting as foretold by Mike Barrett more than ten years ago in the pub.

Presumably, then, Anne Barratt learned to write in order to furnish his Lordship with a sample of her handwriting. Either that or everything she had previously written had been destroyed.

I hope I’m not misunderstanding this.

                    Hi Gary
His moniker on CB was David Orsam. And I beleive it was Mike Hawley and his book he was responding to which was the start of it.

BTW does anyone know what happened to Gareth/Sam Flynn? havent seen him post in quite some time. Is he OK?

                      Thanks, Abby!

Looks like Gareth is logged on here at the moment, viewing the Covid thread.

Has Lord O been airbrushed from history?

                        Edit: Found him.

I missed that bit. Remind me which amusing one-liner about Trevor was singled out for His Lordship's pleasure? I don't need a reminder of his charm school degree, but I might want to use that one-liner again. The one thing I do admire about Trev is his thick skin. His own idea of a joke might miss the mark by miles, but he does know how to take one. Orsam's skin is so thin, on the other hand, you can see right through it to the bare bones of his posturing.

I’m reluctant to wade through his bile again to check it out - I always feel the need to wash my hands after I visit his site - but it was a comment along the lines of ‘You can tell a man by the company he keeps’.

Good point about old Trevor - skin as thick as a rhino’s. I doubt he was ever ‘dismayed’ by one of his Lordship’s savagings.

Who is this Caroline Morris? I'm jealous that she is a very close friend of yours.

I wonder how many enemies a man can appear to have made, before it dawns on him that he might be the problem?

He makes John Omlor and Melvin Harris look positively genial by comparison - and Maria Birchwood all warm and cuddly.
