The state pension in the UK did not start until 1910, 10/- (50p) per week.

I do believe it was 70, it later became 65 for men and 60 for women but recent changes are raising those. Police officers pensions are not a state pension as such but an occupational pension, the retirement age for police officers IIRC is 50 or 55.

I didn't realize until recently that these athletes who "retire" at 28 don't actually begin receiving a pension until around age 50 or older. To my way of thinking, if you leave work and aren't going to receive a pension starting the following month, it's called quiting not retiring.

Hypothetically, Kosminski, working for his family in a simple non-interfering way, may have been doing a similar job for the tailor trade. This would make him very familiar with the area roads and lanes etc. and with the females working their own trade. This would also allow him to return to the scenes without arousing suspicion.

Just saw your question about gambling in the LVP.
I can tell you that there were numerous raids ( Inspector Arnold being involved in one notable one that I recall....) involving Jews and non-Jew alike. Some raids on the joints involved over 30 people at a shot.
I think gambling was the most likely vice you find Jews prominent in at the time....in terms of arrests mentioned in the Press.
