      Chris, that might have to do with the way history is taught nowadays. E.g. my niece's GCSE history course included the Cold War and the South African apartheid regime. I think the oldest element of the course was the section on Jack the Ripper.

            Looks like I am the oldest on the forum (71). I well remember when Queen Elizabeth was coronated! And when Franklin Roosevelt was President of the USA!
