How about: MAYBE the case will be solved IF proof is found that it is able to stand up to modern scientific techniques.
FOR INSTANCE: Jack´s clothes with blood stains from all the victims, and DNA from him are found in an attic. Along with the knife (knives). With apologies to Trevor, perhaps desiccated organs might also be found and DNA matched to victims.
