I have a copy of that book and it's grossly inaccurate, plus she does not list any sources whatsoever which is unreliable and has me question the validity of the actual chapters in the book.

Yeah, Stan, I forgot that the newer versions of the software allow only 10 poll choices for some reason. You can find one of my old polls with 25 choices or so.

If I copy one of the old ones where it can be edited, that should work. PM me a list of all entries you'd like to see and I'll try it out.

Hi Currer,

Polls can't very well speak 'volumes' unless you can get bucketloads of people to vote, producing a meaningfully sized and representative sample.

But it is interesting that nobody has yet voted for any victim prior to Mary Kelly. Over at casebook several posters would vote for Kate Eddowes as Jack's final victim, and at least one for Annie Chapman!

I've also heard it espoused over there that Chapman might have actually been the first victim so there you have the canonical one.

I had little doubt that Kelly would lead but I was curious as to who would come in second or post a substantial vote below that.

It wasn't me who voted but wouldn't "Another" include murders in other countries - implying the Ripper was not caught and did not die etc but continued for some time after leaving England?

It may also include George Chapman's final victim and others - William Bury's wife for example
