Cable Street has been mentioned quite a lot in the month of August.....primarily for the establishment of a Jack The Ripper Museum and the battle fought there back in 1936 between left and right wingers....
However....Cable Street also has a link to a couple of murders committed some 7 decades before the Whitechapel Murders. One of its local businesses contained a relic from those murders.
What was the name of those murders....the relic...and the name of the business ?To Join JTR Forums :

This must be the Ratcliff Highway murders, for which John Williams was executed, and whose corpse was paraded through town on a horse and cart. He was eventually buried under a crossroads outside a Cable St pub (the Peartree?), with a stake driven through his heart. Did the pub put the stake on display, or something?Kind regards, Sam Flynn
