Hi Howard,

While I was rooting around Macdonald's records from 1888, I was surprised to find a coroner's court in the parish of Saint Luke at that time. The weird thing is that Macdonald was paying 5 shillings a pop to use it (payable to a "G. Wright"), which made me think at first that it was a wryly named tavern, but apparently it really was an actual court. I presume it had some kind of mortuary attached to it as bodies were removed there.
