Totally unrelated to the WM....but I'm wondering whether anyone knows whether this street....St. Martin's Street....is actually St. Martin's Lane ?
D'Onston moved to St. Martin's Lane on December 9th, 1888.

Up to now,I didn't realize that it was determined ( or maybe I overlooked it...) that the Pinchin Street Torso was found to be virginal by Dr. Phillips.

Unless of course this is an erroneous statement by the Star.

If its true, that ought to make us reconsider that the murder was somehow linked to a failed abortion.

Different day, different paper....
Notice the remarks about "intemperate habits"..and recall the previous post about the victim being virginal.
In sizing up these two reports, thats like saying the victim liked to go swimming but didn't get wet. How many intemperate women are virginal ?

Hello Howard

One of the other torso victims, Elizabeth Jackson, subject of a Casebook dissertation by Debra Arif, was thought to be pregnant by about seven to eight months. Pieces of her body were recovered from the Thames. Not to be confused with the Pinchin Street torso, whose identity, I believe, was never determined for certain, as was the case for most of the torso victims barring Jackson.

StMartin's Lane is a long thoroughfare running from what was Seven Dials to St Martin's in the Fields, whereas St Matin's Street is a short street running off Leicester Square. At least that's the case today; just Google it.
