        • This article references the earlier snafu in 1889 and in Whitechapel in which a man was released from custody and absolved of any wrongdoing after a woman ( who failed to appear in court over the matter ) attempted to pick his pockets.
This event is similar to the James Johnson affair two days prior to the Double Event in which a man was approached by two street women .

            • That's interesting that Bachert thinks the letter writer is someone who can be identified and who has already been in the hands of the police

I always thought that letter referred to the incident in the Three Tuns - Bachert received a letter previously that used the expression "yer thought you had me in the Three Tuns Hotel..."

              • You may be right,Nemo....
In the 1889 street brouhaha, that gentleman had a knife in his hand or so Bachert claimed.
                Good eye,buddy.

                • Yes, the Three Tuns guy and the Aldgate knife guy are two separate people I think, yet both letters use similar terminology

                          • Nice caricature of Edward Hamblar, the 61 year old crossdressing ship's joiner, arrested in 1889.
