This is the first time I have read about a "cowardly constable" who allegedly witnessed a murder in a room off a small courtyard, presumably meaning the Kelly murder. A man who stood in the court outside the room while the crime was being committed but was "too badly frightened to interfere with its commission. . . ." But perhaps the 1895 date of this news story makes the allegation questionable.
' the first woman killed was her mate ', I think this is a reference to Nichols.
Hi Tom and ML.
I was thinking afterwards- Pearly Poll did also have the nickname 'Mog' according to Lloyd's, so it depends on who Marshall viewed as he first victim I guess?

Hi Chris,
Monty did put a possible name to the constable. I think it was mentioned again in the recent Leather Apron thread.
I only just noticed that Grainger's crime is mentioned in this excerpt (obviously Mag hadn't heard JTR had drowned or was in an asylum!) but Mag rules him out as the Ripper.

Hi Debs
Pearly Poll mentioned soldiers in connection with Tabram, Murder Mags thinks it was a sailor (Poll could have change her mind again I suppose!)
