Very interesting find, Howard. For what it's worth, the Echo in September reported that the police were keeping a special watch around King's Cross because 'Leather Apron' was known to accost prostitutes in that area. Perhaps that's the previous occasion that North and Masters are referring to?

    Yours truly,

    Tom Wescott

It may well be what they're describing....there isn't much of an attempt to disguise what North was out there on the street for, so it seems there's no reason to disbelieve what either woman spoke about.

The 'off Euston Road', King's Cross address is 3 1/2 miles from Hanbury Street for a point of reference.

The Midland Grand Hotel mentioned in the article is now ( since 1935 ) the St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel.

There's a minor typo in the article. It mentions 'Belgrave Street', when it should read 'Belgrove Street'....which turns into Argyle Square shown here :

Apparently, this fellow wanted to take her into the park or wooded area shown.

It is also slightly startling to see Mrs. North described immediately as a prostitute. None of that 'unfortunate' business....and there may a good reason for that.

Considering the proximity to the Midland Hotel and this description of the victim...to me, at least, it seems she wasn't a down and outer like the Whitechapel victims. In other words, its a little difficult to believe Annie Chapman or Polly Nichols would position themselves near the Hotel for customers.
