81. Newspaper Days - Theodore Dreiser

Theodore Dreiser 1871-1945
This is from the seventh edition of Dreiser's 'Newspaper Days' ( originally published in 1922 when he was 51). The material
here comes from the 1931 edition, the 7th edition.
Dreiser was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature but lost in 1930 to Sinclair Lewis. His most famous works were Sister Carrie ( 1900 )
and An American Tragedy ( 1925 )
These references to the Brown Murder were published in 1922 yet not fully updated for the 7th edition...are similar in a sense
to the mistakes in the error-filled magazine article written by Pulitzer Prize ( 1928) winner, Charles Edward Russell, in
the Illustrated Detective Magazine, October 1931. (East River Echo Numbers 53 & 54 ) .
No need to comment other than to say even Nobel Prize nominees and Pulitzer Prize winners who lived during those times and in one
case, reported on them ( Russell ) made mistakes, too.
Blurb from Google Books, but not in the 1931 edition as I just plowed through Dreiser's book... and which isn't an error, just a correction.

From the 1931 edition
