  • Polly Nichols- Paris Soir

Inspired by Debs Arif finding that photo of Annie Chapman in Paris-Soir ( once the largest newspaper in circulation in Europe ).....here's a photo of Polly Nichols in the same paper

(P.C.) Neil apercevait a la leuer de sa lanterne dans Bucks Row un cadavre de femme encore chaud

Neil saw in the gleam of his lantern in Bucks Row the corpse of a still warm woman.

If they just put striped stockings on those legs, they would look even more like a scene from the 'Wizard of Oz'. I didn't think unfortunates could afford ruby slippers?

      Good find, How.
This one looks like a mock up photograph using a mannequin or similar? The Annie Chapman one looks like a sketch.

If only we could understand the articles with them properly!

Anna, it was Chapman who had the striped stockings. Besides, a Frenchman would never draw striped stockings. Gross!
