It appears there was a Benjamin Feigenbaum living in Berner Street in 1889/90, at no. 14 in 1889 and no. 40 in 1890.

That info came from the Berner Street school records. There was also a tobacconist named Benjamin Feigenbaum visiting a couple named ‘Kahan’ at 64, Bedford Street, MEOT when the 1891 census was taken. All three were Russian born.

I had a great aunt who attended Berner Street school ca 1900. With one or two possible exceptions, hers is the only non-Jewish name on the page. Lucky Berner Street had the privilege of teaching the riff-raff from Shovel Alley alongside its more respectable Jewish students.

Yes, there were Feigenbaum's in Mile End Old Town. The 1891 census lists them as Austrian (they first came to London in the mid-1880s) whereas Trevor's suspect was born in Karlsruhe, Germany, which is a good distance from the Austrian border, so it is doubtful they were related.

Casebook notes that:”From 1889 he was reponsible for the typesetting of the Freedom newspaper and he became manager of the Freedom office in 1891, when he was recorded as living at 108 Brady Street Dwellings, Brady Street with relatives”

Whether the address mentioned on the poster is his home or business address I do not know.

Is that Wess's address or the address of Federation of East London Labour Unions? Didn't he live in the Brady Street buildings of Buck's Row after Mrs Stride's murder?
