Hi Tim,
The last picture of the Anchor, Bankside, brings back memories. I used to drink there in the early 1980s when I lived in London. The story was that the place used to be a brothel frequented by Boswell, the writer, and all the rooms were named after the girls who worked there.
If I remember correctly, they were demolishing the old Clink prison at that time.
It was also close to the Bear Pit theatre, an early venue for Shakespeare, I remember going to see 'A Midsummer's Night Dream' there - on the 21st June.Dave
