Hi Helen,

Welcome to the Forums. Howard tells me you have a family connection to Henry Tomkins. I've done quite a bit of research on the Tomkins family, primarily because my own family were horse-slaughterers with a connection to the Winthrop Street yard.

I suspect my lot would have known the Tomkins's while they were in Islington. They certainly had a mutual acquaintance: a man named Nicholas Shippy who lived with Henry Tomkins in Newton Heath.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it on here, and anything you feel you would like to share on the Tomkins's will be much appreciated.
