City of London settlement
The record of his possessions mentions a hook, which we discussed and was apparently...

"And it was meet and right, poor old demented Jane, that the birds should sing when thou wert laid to rest. For on that December day the sun shone gloriously, and the birds sang merrily in the trees around her, and as we laid her gently down the breath of the forest came about her, and the breezes...

Hi Jerry
I am just bumping this post of yours up as I recently found Thomas Bond's report for the treasury on the 1892 Althorp dismemberment murder of Annie Pritchard in The Westminster Hospital reports and he discusses putrefaction of flesh, maggotts and lime in relation to the Althorp case and...

I just checked the creed register for Mitcham workhouse and Mary Ann Nicholls is listed as admitted 4/1/88 and a note says she is 'under orders', which usually means the person is the subject of a removal order.

I did also try to search via her name because as I think I mentioned before, as the browsable, unindexed records from the poor law database are eventually indexed, they go on to a different database and some records from Holborn settlement register appear to be on Selected Poor Law Removal and Settlement...

The only settlement books for Holborn on Ancestry that I managed to locate for the right dates all began HO503 or 504 and most of them were related to St Giles and St George Bloomsbury.
I checked Orders of removal, settlement and relief and Miscellaneous for Holborn>Holborn, City of London>Holborn,...

If you look at the the images posted by Stewart Evans and said to be from the Holborn records, it shows the letter addressed from the Holborn Union, dated 12th February 1888 that is also in the images I posted from the Lambeth records. Would the Holborn Union have a letter addressed from themselves...

Yes, if that is the record Rubenhold was working from , it says nothing about Tavener other than the amount was agreed at one time . The whole record was to establish if Nichols had any right to be staying in the Holborn Union through settlement and part of that examination was about William, her husband,...

It seems that my version is a copy that came from the Lambeth Union removal inwards paperwork rather than the Holborn settlement examination
These are the records I found and posted from both unions besides the copy of the removal outwards paperwork.
Mary Ann Nicholls was removed...

I think I posted it on JTRforums a few years back and it recently came up in discussion again concerning the date of Nichols being picked up in Trafalgar Square. I'll have a look for it and link it here...
