I've read this on the Spitalfields Life blog:
My grandparents were the Samuels family who owned the shop from 1890.
My mother was born over the shop in 1897.
Timing would be about right.

All I can say is that it's a tricky one. The building that is on the corner is listed as 10 Artillery Street on the 1890 Goad Map. From what I can gather the entrance is in Gun Street and it matches up with the illustrations for number 54 Gun Street. I know it's a short period of about 10 Months but...

All I can find out about Godley is that he died in Ilford. Sources I have read said that his wife died in 1936. Apparently her name was Emma Adeline, but I can only find Elizabeth Ann of about the right age dying that year and she died in Winchester, Hampshire. If that is her then Winchester might be...
